The North Road was built for weight, weather, and return journeys. Grain and lamp oil travel outward; ore, ranger reports, and tired patrols come home. At the far end, Northwatch turns that promise into a compact working outpost.

Broad road stones give way to patched courses, cross-drains, and sharp quarry spoil. Rain can arrive sideways along the cuts, and upper shelves create natural watch points for bandits. Split-arrow marks tell travelers where to stop and read the high ground; churned low verges warn of boars feeding on spilled grain.

The North Road Shrine is shelter, not a magical service. Its raised roof, water crock, tally ledge, and west-facing lamp give crews a lawful place to count companions and choose whether their supplies cover the road ahead. West leads to Stonebrook’s lamps. East leads toward the mine branch and Northwatch.

Northwatch is organized around a wagon turning yard rather than a ceremonial square. Tove’s field ledger opens the carried-to-banked gold panel; Orrin’s depot cover opens the backpack-and-shelf transfer panel. Reva’s quartermaster counter, Ada’s ranger board, and Elin’s stable complete one clear loop: transfer, restock, report, and ride home if the return road is too long.
